History

Ruinart is the oldest champagne house in the area, founded in Reims in 1729 thanks to Nicolas Ruinart, the nephew of the Benedictine monk Dom Thierry Ruinart who had always dreamed of starting a winery in Champagne. Initially the Ruinart family combined the production of champagne with the fabric trade, giving customers a bottle of champagne as a gift to customers who bought their fabrics. After 6 years the Ruinarts managed to devote themselves entirely to the production of Champagne.

Production method

Produced according to the so-called methode champenoise or classic method, a method in which the wine substantially undergoes two different fermentations: the first, the alcoholic one (which it shares with the rest of the wines) takes place in vats for fermentation; the second instead takes place directly in the bottle and ensures that during this second procedure, thanks to particular yeasts, the wine also develops carbon dioxide (which will then give life to the famous bubbles when uncorked).

Tasting notes

Brilliant straw yellow color with golden hues. On the nose notes of white flowers, acacia honey, orange and lime peel, with mineral and yeast nuances. Creamy on the palate, balanced and pleasantly fresh on the final part of the sip, which returns on notes of pastry and yeasts.

Possible combinations

Excellent as an aperitif, or for a special toast with special people. In excellent combination with first courses with savory white sauces, or with seafood; also ideal with shellfish, raw seafood or delicate fish dishes.
