History
Domaine Drouhin is today the largest and most extensive estate in all of Burgundy and can count on 80 hectares of land divided as follows: 38 hectares in Chablis, 38.5 hectares in Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, 3.5 hectares in Côte Chalonnaise. Within these, most are vineyards classified as Premier and Grand Crus, all planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The “domaine” was expertly built over the years by one of the most important families in the French wine scene, thanks to targeted purchases and agreements between local families; some vineyards are counted among the most famous in Burgundy such as Clos des Mouches, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne and others.

Production method
The chardonnays used for the production of this wine all come from the municipality of Meursault, a village located in the heart of the Cote de Beaune among the best known and appreciated for the production of great chardonnays. The agricultural techniques used are organic farming techniques from 1990, converted to biodynamic a few years later. The soils are mainly calcareous, the vineyards are very old. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a soft pressing, after which they are vinified in wooden barrels thanks to indigenous yeasts with frequent submersion of the cap (usually once a day). Aging takes place in barriques (25% new barriques) and lasts for about 12 months, during which the wine is frequently checked so that the elegance and expression of the territory are as always at the highest levels.

Tasting notes
In appearance, the wine has an intense straw yellow color with a golden hue and some greenish reflections. On the nose notes of cedar and grapefruit, ripe yellow pulp fruit, with notes of geraniums, peanut butter, vanilla, toasted almonds and lots of minerality. On the palate the wine is broad and decisive, but nonetheless endowed with a good softness and fullness; the finish reveals notes of ripe spices, great freshness and a sustained minerality.
Possible combinations
Meursault by Drouhin is a white wine with a very interesting aromatic profile and great structure and minerality. It certainly lends itself to aging for many years; it is an incredible wine if conceived as a meditation wine. In combination it gives its best when paired with white meat dishes or noble poultry, or dishes with white truffles.
