History

The name Grion is the identifying name of the district close to the company, where the vineyards are located. The Balan company was founded in 1962 mainly with the aim of starting a distribution of wines in the local area, but over the years it also acquired the vineyards adjacent to the company premises as well as land in Valdobbiadene. In the early 2000s, Sergio Balan’s sons planted Merlot and Cabernet grapes and began to age the grapes from these vineyards in barriques, giving life to this wine.

Production method

The grapes are harvested manually and immediately destemmed and crushed in order to obtain the must. The vinification is traditional in red; the wine obtained then ages in new and used French oak barriques for about 24 months, thus enhancing the spicy notes and pleasantness of the wine.

Tasting notes

At sight it has an intense ruby ​​red color with garnet hues. On the nose notes of red fruit jam, dried flowers, notes of cinnamon, licorice, sweet tobacco and bitter chocolate, in a unique finesse. On the palate soft, mellow and with good structure, with a fresh and long finish.

Possible combinations

Excellent as a meditation wine or on first courses with meat sauce and second courses of red meat or game.
