History
In the Castelnuovo dell’Abate area, there is the La Poderina winery, part of the prestigious Tenuta del Cerro group. In the vineyards, where Sangiovese and Moscato are mainly grown, high quality cultivation methods are adopted, limiting yields to no more than 60 quintals per hectare, well below the 80 permitted by local production rules.

Production method
After careful vinification, they are matured both in French oak barriques and in large traditional barrels, for a long aging period. Fermentation takes place in large steel tanks, with a prolonged maceration of the skins in the must. The subsequent maturation takes place both in barriques and in oak barrels from Slavonia.

Tasting notes
Dark ruby red color with garnet hints. On the nose, intense, enveloping and delicate aromas, with accents of dark cherry, wild berries and sweet vanilla. The taste is strong, with tannins evident in youth, but softens with age, leaving a balanced and long-lasting persistence.
Possible combinations
Excellent as a meditation wine, as it manages to express itself over time. However, it is excellent with important dishes based on red meat or mature cheeses, or with substantial gourmet preparations.
